I’ve been into robot MC a bit more than usual of late. It can lead to some interesting philosophical writing on the self, but that was clearly not the goal of this first chapter, being all about mind control over physical transformation. This does get right to it, even if I felt a bit left out somehow. I certainly have not read this author’s other work, which this does connect with, at least in an alternate universe kind of way. For that and other reasons, I found myself not getting into this one all that much. This whole story felt like it was on a loop, which can be effective for those solely interested in serial MC recruitment. Ultimately, not really my thing.
