WITHIN
Ex Nihilo (mc ff mf) (new)  by InLeaves
–2.5/5 (not great, had some redeeming qualities)–

Theres something oddly amusing how a story called Ex Nihlo (from nothing) was commissioned my someone called Anonymous … written well enough, but doesn’t quite get me going at the start. Granted its obviously the start of a larger story, but it took a little while for annoying to happen. Interesting, but didn’t peak my interest as much as I wanted it to.

The Mask Becomes You (mc ff mf fd) (1 new chapter)  by Carefully Random
–2/5 (so-so, maybe a good story to others but didn’t mesmerize me)–

I still find the style of writing in the present sense a bit awkward to read, but the story was overall polished in its own style. To be honest, I never actually understood why cooking and cleaning are ever a part of MC eroticism. It always seemed so cliched and redundant. Also, I’m pretty sure we should be passed moral dilemmas by chap five. I mean, she allowed the mask’s power to become a part of her, so why is she balling her eyes out over controlling others with the mask’s power? The mask, of course, again, gains the upper hand. That’s basically most of this chapter, even though we’ve been through this all already …

Molding Melissa (mc) (new)
~1.5/5 (poor +, need to be mesmerized to really like this)~~

Given the mind control context, the start of this isn’t particularly new or surprising. The writing was otherwise polished. Not really much here in terms of substance or narrative. Seems like we jump in halfway through the mental tf. Don’t get me wrong, in media res is a fine old school technique, but only of at least a portion of the start is depicted. Perhaps MC purists may fine some enjoyment here, but only for the ones that aren’t completists.
