Birds of Prey (mc ff mf fd md) (new) by Baltimore Rogers
–2/5 (so-so, maybe a good story to others but didn’t mesmerize me)–
I don’t know what “pr0n” is, so I’m not sure if I needed to go away! Anyway, having a disclaimer, copyright, synopsis, and author’s note take up most of the first chap seemed a little excessive to me. Having most of that every chap, which are short, gets a little grating … While not pushed away, I was kinda neutral at the start of this. Maybe it was because I never read the forbears to this, or that it didn’t feel all that fresh thematically. The latter is not necessarily a problem if there are characters to latch on to, but there weren’t in teeny tiny chap one. Still, its written just fine, but it’s ultimate problem was what I saw right at the beginning: there was no one to latch onto even though this was first person. Had a very, well, fleeting feel, and felt more like a discussion of a topic, which is something that doesn’t work for me in the nonfiction context. I really wanted to like this (I love mythology), but I just couldn’t get into it.

The Patron and the Saint (new) by Tax and Tithe
–2.5/5 (not great, had some redeeming qualities)–
Read a bit more smoothly than prior works I read from this author. However, it still felt rather robotic and artificial at times. Not terribly interesting from the start, but there was noting to push me away. A bit overlong, but all right for what it was.

The Humanitarian (mc mf md) (new) by rutabaga72
~~1.5/5 (poor +, need to be mesmerized to really like this)~~
I am working on and off on an experimental vampire piece designed to be all dialogue, but generally I don’t like the style. Always found it hard to follow, especially if I look away for any reason. I guess I just normally need the he said, she said, I broke wind descriptions on occasion … Hard for me to follow, straight forward, overlong, and definitely not my thing.
